My Weekend In Amsterdam

Spending the weekend just gone in Amsterdam was truly a dream. Not only is it a beautiful city but also has such a great atmosphere. I felt so at peace and happy as soon as I got there. An added plus was also the short flight which absolutely threw me as I literally felt like I was in the air for 10 minutes.

Amsterdam is full of canals and boats with pretty flowers accompanying the bridges. The canal cruise was really nice to do as you got to travel through the canals and hear a little bit of history on the city.

Not only do they have lots of canals and boats but they also have a swing at the top of a building (which scared the life out of me because I am so scared of heights). I was pretty proud of myself for doing it as it was absolutely terrifying.

As you can see from the above, the views from the top of the building were absolutely stunning and really shows the beauty of the city. The weather was really nice the whole weekend which was the cherry on top. I would recommend visiting here because there is so much to see and do (they even have a giant penis you can sit on!)

Museums were everywhere but typical me and my friend Heidi, we only went to the raunchy ones (if you like history, I would suggest going to the Anne Frank or Van Gogh Museums).

My Lunching In London Outfit

You may have already seen this outfit featured in my previous post all about how I style my hair with straighteners (link here) but I thought it deserved its own little post as I really liked it and thought it was the perfect outfit for going to lunch at Pergola in Paddington. It was so aesthetically pleasing and the food was very tasty. You can help yourself to whatever food takes your fancy and they had a variety of drinks. We chose to drink Pimms which I had never had before but I did really like it and it was the perfect drink in the heat. The atmosphere was so happy and positive (I'm guessing the football playing on the TV helped with that).

Shorts and Blouse - Primark
Wedges - New Look

It was such a hot day this day so I knew that I had to wear as little clothing as possible (but still keep it PG). I really like the fit of the shorts but they're still really comfortable. I would recommend going to Pergola as it is a hot spot for instagrammable pics and nice for a chilled afternoon.

How I Style My Hair Using Straighteners

I never really got the hang of using straighteners to style my hair and as I have naturally straight hair, I didn't really need to have any. Now that I have more layered hair, I don't always just want to use a curling wand. Sometimes I just want a bit of styling rather than having proper curls. I used to own Lee Clarke straighteners and they were left untouched for years until a few months ago I wanted to experiment with styling my hair. However, I feel that they were better suited for actually just straightening the hair rather than styling as it doesn't have a lot of grip and is hard to twist with the hair. So I decided to invest in some new ones. I have previously borrowed my friends GHD's and I found them to be amazing but they're quite pricey.

So I searched further online and I found the Remington Proluxe Straightener. Of course I read the reviews first and a majority of them seemed to be really positive. I bought them from Boots and I have not regretted it. It has all different temperatures which is handy and the lovely bag it comes in (which is light pink, whats not to love?) can also be used as a heat matt which is very helpful.

I turn the temperature up to around 190 or 200 and I usually take small pieces of hair. You probably could use thicker parts but I like to have lots of style in my hair. I shut the straighteners on the piece of hair about half way up or near the top towards the root and twist the straightener slightly to give a slight curl. You could twist it even further to make more curls but I like it a little more subtle. Hairspray is a must to keep the curls in place, so I spray lot of L'Oreal Elnett to the ends of my hair. Not only does it smell nice, it also is really good for keeping hair in place.

Here is how it looks:

3 Ways I Like To De-Stress

We all get stressed at times and sometimes it seems that it is the end of the world but probably an hour later it will be irrelevant. Stress can come from all different places. I tend to get stressed about little things even before I need to. I tend to sit on things for so so long and it ends up driving me insane. There are 3 things that help me when I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed that do tend to calm me down.

1. A Nice Hot Bath

I'm lucky enough to have a bath in my house (I know some people only have showers) and I love to sit in a nice hot bath and evaluate my day and try and suss out the things that are bothering me. I also feel that it is good for a cleanse as when you get out the bath, you feel all nice, clean and fresh (an added bonus is if there are fresh bed sheets). Its also great for when its that 'time of the month' as I do tend to feel a lot more sweaty and dirty during that time so a bath is essential. Bubble bath is a must and a nice smelling bath gel to make you smell lovely.

2. Exercise

Would you believe exercise could help? I find that working out does help to kill those bad vibes. I go to Body Jam on a Tuesday at my gym and it really does make you feel good because its not to be taken too seriously. As you have to concentrate on the routine so much, it distracts me from the possible woes of that day.

3. Talking

I think one of the key things to do when you're feeling stressed is to talk to somebody. I tend to rant and repeat myself a little too much but I do feel like it helps. It also helps when people tell me I'm right because lets face it... who likes to be wrong? Getting things off your chest really can take some weight off of your shoulders. So grab a friend or family member and talk talk talk.

The Perfect Saturday Night Outfit

Last night I went clubbing in the first time for what feels like forever and I've got to say... I was feeling my outfit a lot. I don't usually say things like that but in this case I just can't not say anything. I loved the slit at the side of the dress which gave it that edge to any normal dress.

Dress: Pretty Little Thing
Shoes: Linzi

The dress looked a lot more structured/fitted online but it is actually quite normal and is elasticated around the bust area which was all good with me. It was really comfortable to wear and looks amazing with a bit of tan and full glam make up.

I did a bit of a golden/brown neutral look on the eyes just to keep it nice and simple with a nude lip. It is hard to decide what make up to match with this dress but I think the make up I did pulled it all together.

My First Festival

Co ord: New Look
Flatforms: Pretty Little Thing

I attended We Are Festival yesterday and it was my first ever festival. I wasn't too sure what to expect as it is a totally different environment for me but it had a good vibe and the amount of weird and wonderful outfits made the field fill with colour. I'm so glad it was great weather as I really didn't want a downfall but luckily I managed to fit my rain coat in my tiny bag which I was pretty impressed with.

I can't say I've always been a big fan of house music but the festival did offer different kinds of music and the likes of Big Shaq and Tom Zanetti made an appearance and really made the night. It was a long day and my legs and feet were killing me by the end but it was worth it. The only downsides to the event were the toilets... I've got to be real...they were pretty rank. It also is very pricey for drinks and food but that was to be expected. You do get value for your money ticket wise because you had a good 10 or so hours there to enjoy the music.

Outfit Of The Day: A Sunny Saturday

The UK seemed to finally have said goodbye to the cold and depressing weather and last Saturday was just so lovely that I had to throw on a sun dress to celebrate.

Dress, Shoes & Sunglasses - Primark
Denim Jacket - Miss Selfridge

This dress is nice and lightweight so keep you cool in heat. I should really wear it more than I do as it is a hidden gem in my summer collection.

Review: Make Up Revolution Stick Foundation

I had seen this foundation advertised and I just could not wait to use it. I'm usually a liquid foundation kinda girl but a stick foundation always crossed my mind as its more compact and also it kinda feels like your painting your face which I love to do. A lot of people rave about the more higher end stick foundations such as the one from Hourglass or Make Up Forever but I tend to lean towards drugstore make up as growing up with not a lot of money, I learnt to value what I had and sometimes is not always about the price tag.

The Make Up Revolution Foundation Stick is presented well with nice structured packaging with gold writing which makes it that bit more sophisticated. Once the lid is off, you then just twist up and the stick pops up. It is not stiff at all, it is very creamy which I prefer as then it doesn't tug on the skin. It has quite a good shade range but I'm sure could probably feature a few more colours.

I use shade F1 which is the lightest shade for my pale skin. I apply this over primer in strokes over my cheeks, chin and forehead. I do feel like it tends to sink into the pores in my nose. It also doesn't look like it gives good coverage in certain places but that might be because of how I apply it. Maybe a beauty blender might be better for application than a paddle brush.

Have you tried this foundation?

My Time In Palma Nova, Mallorca

I've not long been back from Palma and I'm still sad that I'm not there currently. I was there for 3 days as a little surprise for one of my friends who turned 21 and we all did so well to keep it a secret. We stayed at the Sol Beach Hotel and it was the perfect location for food, shops and a good old karaoke bar and a few Sex On The Beach cocktails. It also did a nice breakfast and had the perfect view of the beach and the ocean.

There was a beautiful pier close to our hotel and it was the perfect place to capture lots of pictures and also take in the amazing views.

On Sunday 15th, we was lucky enough to be able to lay on the beach and have a sunbathing day (we all got sunburn). It was lovely to feel the sun on my skin and paddle in the sea.

I had an amazing trip here, thank you to all the people I went with on this holiday

Birchbox: March 2018

Recently, I re signed up for Birchbox after a while so I thought I would share what was inside the March box. Not only was it a groovy designed box but also featured the new Benefit Bag Gal Bang Mascara! I tried it out yesterday and I have to admit, it gives you those spider lashes but ya gal isn't complaining.

1. Oribe Wave and Shine Spray

I've heard about this spray from the blogging/youtubing community but never actually got round to using it. I'll be mainly using this when I've curled my hair and want a little more volume and shine to my hair.

2. Benefit Bad Gal Bang Mascara

The new Benefit mascara is here and I was pretty excited to try this. I mentioned a little bit about this at the top of the post and it really does give you those extra black spidery lashes.

3. Blaq Hydrogel Eye Mask

Eye masks are a great invention and as I have dark under eyes, I feel like it is a necessity. I tried this out on Friday. It was very refreshing and very moisturising.

4. Manna Kadar Bronzer & Highlighter Duo

I had never really heard of this brand and I must admit for full size, it is quite small! Nevertheless, I swatched it on my hand and it is pigmented.

5. Baija Gommage Festin Body Scrub

I really love a good body scrub and I can't wait to use it. I like that its quite small and I could take it in my gym bag for when I shower after.

I wonder what next month will bring..
